Man O’ War Ironclad is named after a 19th century battleship fitted with plates of armour. And like those olden day war ships this super Waiheke Island red is a thing of real power!
Produced from the iron rich hillside vineyards of the eastern end of Waiheke Island. Man O’ War Ironclad is a Bordeaux style red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
One for the lover of big, powerful reds. They don’t call it Ironclad for nothing you know! A regular achiever of 95+ point scores from local and international critics – year after year it delivers.
The Man O’ War crew said “This is not a blockbuster it’s a battleship; powerful, composed and built to travel a long way. From a rare, small-yield vintage that delivered clarity, depth and longevity, Ironclad 2024 is what happens when everything locks into place. A wine that will drink beautifully young but will truly shine a decade from now.”
Their 2024 release has been fired from the canon in all its glory with Cabernet Franc 50%, Merlot 31%, Cabernet Sauvignon 7%, Petit Verdot 12% making up the blend.
Drink now or lay it down in the cellar for 6-10 years from vintage.
