Man O’ War Ironclad is named after a 19th century battleship fitted with plates of armour. And like those olden day war ships this super Waiheke Island red is a thing of real power!
Produced from the iron rich hillside vineyards of the eastern end of Waiheke Island. Man O’ War Ironclad is a Bordeaux style red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
One for the lover of big, powerful reds. They don’t call it Ironclad for nothing you know! A regular achiever of 95+ point scores from local and international critics – year after year it delivers.
The Man O’ War crew said “2025 was an outstanding vintage, if not the greatest of all time…Named in honour of the 19th Century warships characterised by the iron armour bolted onto their wooden hulls, much as iron courses through the veins of our warm clay hillside vineyards.”
Their 2025 release has been fired from the canon in all its glory with Cabernet Franc 52%, Merlot 26%, Petit Verdot 13% and Cabernet Sauvignon 9% making up the blend.
Drink now or lay it down in the cellar for 6-10 years from vintage.
