The Ironclad was a 19th century battleship fitted with plates of armour – and like those olden day war ships this super Waiheke red is a thing of power!

Produced from the iron rich hillside vineyards of the eastern end of Waiheke Island, Man O’War’s Ironclad is a Bordeaux style red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

One for the lover of big, powerful reds (they don’t call it Ironclad for nothing you know) and those into laying wine down for years ahead (try cellaring for the next 6-10 years). Master of Wine Bob Campbell scored this an impressive 96/100 and called it “A remarkable wine from a challenging vintage. Deliciously drinkable now but no rush. Ageing: now to 2023.”
