An incredible value, Gold medal, 95/100 rated Spanish red – slashed to a price that must make this one of the red wine bargain buys of the year so far!

Castano Ecologico Organic Monastrell. If you think that’s a mouthful – boy, wait ’til you try the wine. Don’t worry if you haven’t the foggiest about Spanish wine or what Monastrell is – just know this is a medium to full bodied red, big and rich in style with juicy berry fruit flavours and silky smooth tannins. It’s a style of red that’s impossible not to love – it’s not hard to see why the judges at the New World Wine Awards awarded it a Gold medal and scored it an incredible 95/100!

With end of financial looming, and container loads of new wines on the water from Europe, the importer has reluctantly slashed the price of their prized, award winning Spanish red.

Produced by the Castano family in the south-east of Spain in a region called Yecla. The grape is Monastrell (also called Mourvedre in France and Mataro in Aussie) and it’s absolutely at home in this part of Spain. With hot summers, long cold winters and long periods of drought – most grapes wouldn’t stand a chance. But in this environment Monastrell brings its A-game!

We could rave on all day about the rich, juicy berry fruits and velvety smooth tannins –  but maybe we’ll just let the judges from the New World Wine Awards lay down their word…

“The palate is ripe plum, with a touch of liquorice and sweet cherry fruits, balanced by juicy acidity and long length. A big, rich wine that is distinctively Spanish and capable of aging beautifully.”

Elsewhere right now you’ll find this one for around $21 at full price. Even on special you can pick it up for around the $15 mark and to be fair, that’s good buying. At this silly, silly low price of $11.99 it smashes it out of the ground. There ain’t an Aussie or NZ red that could touch it for the money!

Grab a case or two now while you can at this price to see you through Autumn, into Winter, through to Spring and back into Summer. You get the idea. Pure drinkability, an incredible bargain.
