Big. Buttery. It’s right there on the label. Coopers Creek didn’t muck about when they went to craft a big, rich, full bodied (and buttery!) style of Chardonnay. Y’know, the style that used to be in fashion, then went out of fashion, and now it’s come back!
We never stopped drinking it. And neither did plenty of other wine guzzlers judging by its popularity these days.
This latest 2025 vintage sees them go from a Gisborne to a Hawke’s Bay wine and using fruit from three separate vineyard sites but still crafted in that same fuller bodied, buttery, creamy style thanks to full malolactic – the winemaking process that gives it the buttery goodness.
The Coopers Creek crew describe it as “richly textured and mouth-filling, delivering a classic “big and buttery” profile. Creamy, rounded malolactic characters are balanced by fresh Hawke’s Bay acidity, with
flavours of baked apple, citrus zest and gentle oak spice carrying through to a long, smooth finish.”
Chill it down, pour yourself a big glass and relive the 80s baby!
