Big. Buttery. It’s right there on the label. Coopers Creek didn’t muck about when they went to craft a big, rich, full bodied (and buttery!) style of Chardonnay. Y’know, the style that used to be in fashion, then went out of fashion, and now it’s come back with Coopers Creek Big & Buttery Chardonnay.
We never stopped drinking it. And neither did plenty of other wine guzzlers judging by its popularity these days.
This latest 2025 vintage sees them go from a Gisborne to a Hawke’s Bay wine and using fruit from three separate vineyard sites but still crafted in that same fuller bodied, buttery, creamy style thanks to full malolactic – the winemaking process that gives it the buttery goodness.
The Coopers Creek crew describe it as “richly textured and mouth-filling, delivering a classic “big and buttery” profile. Creamy, rounded malolactic characters are balanced by fresh Hawke’s Bay acidity, with
flavours of baked apple, citrus zest and gentle oak spice carrying through to a long, smooth finish.”
