What started as a family owned apple orchard in the Hawke’s Bay in the 80s has gone on to become one of NZ’s largest producer of premium organic food. You might know them for their organic apples and delicious organic chickens.
And now you’re going to know them as a seriously, seriously good producer of premium Hawke’s Bay wine. Organic too, of course.
They’re the Bostocks. Johnny Bostock along with his three boys Ben, George and Tom are running the family ‘biz these days. It was Johnny’s late wife Vicki that was the inspiration for igniting his passion for organic food and wine.
This 2018 vintage is the second release of the Bostock Vicki’s Vineyard Merlot and geez if they wanted to produce a wine in Vicki’s honour, they’ve done some job!
Scoring an incredible 95/100 (the same as the debut ’17 release) and a Top Ranking Award by Master of Wine Bob Campbell for The Real Review. It’s sitting as the No.2 ranked Hawke’s Bay Merlot from the 2018 vintage, impressive!
Bob said “Elegant, almost juicy merlot with a cabernet franc-like perfumed lift. Dark fruits, plum, cassis, floral and violet flavours, with a hint of herbs. A smooth-textured wine with a lingering finish.”
