You know what they say, never underestimate a dark horse. Trust us when we say this is a wine that’s well worth backing. This McLaren Vale label has become a massive hit with lovers of Aussie red over several years now and it’s damn easy to see why.
After making wine in Italy and France former Coriole winemaker Matt Broomhead returned to the McLaren Vale to kick off his own gig with Dad Alan and 94 year old Grandad Frank. They’re the Three Dark Horses, they’re seriously boutique and they’re producing some seriously good, seriously affordable wine.
This is the Three Dark Horses 100% Grenache using fruit from a 75 year old dry-grown vineyard in the McLaren Vale and is aged in seasoned French oak for 15 months. The Grenache grape thrives in the warmer climate regions of the wine world like Spain, southern France and increasingly parts of Aussie like the McLaren Vale!
Winemaker Matt calls said this one has “The palate is juicy and finely textured, delivering pure red-fruited energy with silky tannins and a gentle glide. Bright acidity keeps everything lively, while notes of cranberry and soft spice add complexity. Elegant, supple and beautifully balanced, it captures the region’s hallmark brightness and modern, fruit-driven style.”
The smart money is on this horse yet again. Drink now or cellar for up to six years from vintage.

Damn, you're looking young for your age!
