No wonder the dude on the front label is doing a little jig, that’s Dionysus by the way, Greek God of Wine. There’s plenty to celebrate about when you’re owned by one of the most successful NZ wineries of all time (Villa Maria) and have access to their vast selection of top vineyards and grape growers all around the country!
Just announced as Michael Cooper’s Best Buy White Wine of the Year in his latest Wine Buyer’s Guide for 2019! Think of it as the NZ wine bible. He slurps his way through over 3,000 wines (tough job right?) and at the end picks his overall best value white and red.
Coops said “When I tasted this wine for the first time in August, I thought: what a steal! ‘A high-impact style,’ I jotted down. ‘Richly aromatic, it is very fresh, punchy and ripely herbaceous, with good intensity of passionfruit/lime flavours, and a crisp, dry finish.’ Then I saw its recommended retail price ($14.50)”
Winemaker Simon gathers fruit from the two most famous sub regions of Marlborough (Awatere and Wairau Valleys) before applying some sweet “whizz-bang technology” to create his dream blend of this crisp, punchy, aromatic style white.
Ideal with white meats, seafood, salads and veggie dishes. And when to drink it? Well, right now of course silly!
