Sileni Estate was born in 1997 and co-founded by Kiwi businessman, philanthropist (and wine lover!) and official Hawke’s Bay legend Sir Graeme Avery. Named after the Sileni that features in Greek mythology who followed Dionysus, the God of Wine. They celebrated good wine, good food and good company. Now we’re talkin’.
To celebrate their 25th vintage Sileni jazzed up their labels and released their new “Grand Reserve” range using some of their best fruit from specific sites and sub regions in Hawke’s Bay and beyond.
This is their Advocate Grand Reserve Albariño (pronounced al-bar-een-yoh) and while its a variety best known in Spain and Portugal there are a heap of Kiwi producers planting it these days…and with bloody good success!
We thought the 2024 was good. Then this latest 2025 came along – a Double Gold medal at the NZ International Wine Show 2025 (meaning every senior judge scored it a Gold medal) which is the SECOND year in a row it’s achieved that at this show!
An aromatic, full bodied style white full of ripe tropical fruit flavours and a hint of spice. Truly delish! Enjoy chilled from the fridge and if you’re pairing with a feed it’s got to be fresh kai moana!

Damn, you're looking young for your age!
