Open The Gate and charge on in! You’re looking at Cuisine magazine’s number one Aussie Shiraz in their 2018 tasting.
This is a big, full bodied, full on style of premium McLaren Vale Shiraz with heaps of rich fruit and a lick of spice. It’s what they call a “winemaker’s wine” – the kind of red a winemaker keeps tucked away in the wine rack. And you can see why, this has class written all over it and one seriously bloody delicious drop.
Making it to top spot in Cuisine’s annual Aussie Shiraz tasting is no mean feat, there are plenty of big, heavy hitters fighting it out in there. But the accolades don’t stop there with FOUR other Gold medals plus a whopping 95/100 + Special Value by James Halliday and 93/100 by Huon Hooke MW.
Using select parcels of fruit from Shingleback’s wicked Davey Estate vineyard, then aged 15 months in American oak, they then assess individual barrels to select the best of the best for the final blend. It’s a wine that’ll stand the test of time – up until 2035.
