This is a big, full bodied, full on style of premium McLaren Vale Shiraz with heaps of rich fruit and a lick of spice. It’s what they call a “winemaker’s wine” – the kind of red a winemaker keeps tucked away in the wine rack. And you can see why, this has class written all over it and one seriously bloody delicious drop.
One of Aussie’s top wine writers James Halliday scored this beast 95/100 and said “If you want heft then you’ve come to the right place. This lays it on and does so in excellent style. Chocolate and blackberry, ripe plum and toast. Peppercorns too. It’s svelte and rugged at once; it’s a mouthful. Tannin comes in from a long run and rumbles through the finish.”
Using select parcels of fruit from Shingleback’s wicked Davey Estate vineyard, then aged 15 months in American oak, they then assess individual barrels to select the best of the best for the final blend. It’s a wine that’ll stand the test of time – up until 2035.
