All the way from the searing hot central plains of Spain comes this hot new organic red called Ortiga.

The grape is Tempranillo (tem-prah-nee-yoh) and it’s quite simply what Spain does best! It’s not hard to see why these styles of red are guzzled in such huge numbers around the world – highly approachable, highly drinkable, massive bang for your buck…and it’s organic too!

A medium bodied style full of bright and juicy berry fruit flavours and a touch of spice – it’s silky, succulent and super smooth! And did we say it’s organic? They really wanted us to get that point across so they slapped a green label with a picture of a green plant on the front. But yeah, it’s certified organic by EU standards.

Scoring 92/100 by local critic Sam Kim, who called it “Delightfully styled and elegantly spicy, the bouquet shows sweet plum, anise, thyme and hazelnut characters with nuances of game and olive. It’s succulent
and plump on the palate, displaying bright fruit flavours and fine texture, finishing long and attractively dry.”

You’ll happily glug this one back any time of the year, with or without food. But if you’re looking to pair it with a feed think grilled and barbecued red meats, grilled veggies or go full on Spanish and whip up a paella! Olé!
