Man O’ War Exiled Pinot Gris

Ponui Island – population of nine, the odd boy scout camp and home to New Zealand’s only feral donkey breed, the Ponui Donkey!.

Located south east of Waiheke Island in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf it’s also where the crew at Man O’ War produce some of the fruit for their most prized Pinot Gris, the Exiled.

Scoring 93/100 and a Top Rank award from The Real Review’s Bob Campbell MW, Bob called it a “Powerful wine from grapes grown on two islands with ripe pear, honey, root ginger, musk and grapefruit marmalade flavours. A strong sweet-and-sour influence creates energy and tension giving the wine a dynamic dimension.”
