Kalex are a premium Central Otago producer founded by Alex Kaufman, a Polish American businessman, entrepreneur and holocaust survivor. He arrived in the US with nothing but the clothes on his back and a quarter in his shoe. His later success in business and love for wine lead him to NZ and specifically Central Otago, where he started the Kalex label.

At a slightly lower alcohol of just 9.5% this makes a great anytime tipple. It’s already got 6 years under its belt and while Sam reckons you can drink it up to 2024, Riesling is well known for its awesome cellaring potential. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it go longer than that. But heck, a delicious white at this silly low price probably isn’t going to last in anyone’s cellar!
