Cape Mentelle Zinfandel

World class Zin from Western Australia! Cape Mentelle are on the south-western end of the sunburnt country in the famous Margaret River region and are the big brother winery to NZ’s very own Cloudy Bay.

Brothers David, Mark and Giles Hohnen formed this legendary premium producer (funnily enough named after the nearby cape with the same name) in 1970 and in 1985 started Cloudy Bay in Marlborough.

Best known as a red from California but Cape Mentelle’s take on “Zin” is one of Aussie’s shining examples. The Sunday Star Times called it “A spicy, dusty zin that’s as long and smooth as a seasoned pop crooner”

And if bold, rich, intense reds are music to your ears then rock on. This monster truck of a red will pair perfectly to venison, roasted lamb and grilled steaks – and if you’re looking to chuck it in your cellar it’ll drink between now and 2023!
