What started as a family owned apple orchard in the Hawke’s Bay in the 80s has gone on to become one of NZ’s largest producer of premium organic food. You might know them for their organic apples and delicious organic chickens.
And now you’re going to know them as a seriously, seriously good producer of premium Hawke’s Bay wine. Organic too, of course.
They’re the Bostocks. Johnny Bostock along with his three boys Ben, George and Tom are running the family ‘biz these days. It was Johnny’s late wife Vicki that was the inspiration for igniting his passion for organic food and wine.
This 2020 vintage is the fourth release of the Bostock Vicki’s Vineyard Merlot and geez if they wanted to produce a wine in Vicki’s honour, they’ve done some job!
Scoring an incredible 95/100 (the same as the previous three releases!) and a Top Ranking Award by Master of Wine Bob Campbell for The Real Review.
Bob said “Bright, high energy merlot with plum, blackberry, violet and smoky oak flavours offering a good mix of fruit and savoury characters. Medium-bodied red made from organic grapes. A ripe tannic backbone adds structure and suggests good cellaring potential.”
