Ready…aim…FIRE! Shoot yourself into some Wirra Wirra Catapult Shiraz and land yourself some of this highly rated McLaren Vale Shiraz.
How highly rated? Well, pretty well near sky high actually. This latest 2019 vintage is the winner of an incredible 96/100 rating at the world’s largest and most influential wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards in London!
Over 17,000 entries put to the test with only 635 wines from across the globe coming away with a Gold medal (that’s less than 4%!) – so it’s fair to say that’s flung the Catapult into the creme de la creme.
The judges in London called it “Bright and aromatic, with a gentle, oak-derived caramel underlay running beneath pepper, floral black fruits and salty red berries. Smart, persistent and finishing with lifted mint.”. We say it’s quite simply one gorgeous glass of McLaren Vale Shiraz and clearly worth more than the measly $20 price tag.
Produced by the bunch at the Wirra Wirra vineyard that can only be described as a bit nuts. They’ve honoured the late and legendary McLaren Vale wine figure Greg Trott by naming a wine after a vision he had of creating a catapult to sling bottles of yummy McLaren Vale reds over to neighbouring vineyards. What a nutter!
In their own words “Would he be pleased? Not with the fuss, but certainly with the wine. Sure to bring a smile. Just like Trott.”
