Cruise north of Christchurch for half an hour or so and you’ll hit the Waipara Valley wine making region. The Waipara Hills vineyard boasts some pretty stunning views of the mountains, hills and valleys it neighbours.
They’ve got a café on site serving food and platters and if you hit ’em during the summer months you might catch one of their mean summer gigs. Oh, and the wines are pretty bloody good value too!
The 2023 Waipara Hills Pinot Gris is here and after the insane success of the last several vintages (3 Trophies, 13 Gold medals and a few more along the way!) there’s big boots to fill for this little Gold digger!
A rich and spicy style Gris with a dry finish. Our tip for the perfect wine and food match is pairing this one up with spicy Asian cuisine or a roast pork dish – yum! Or the guys at Waipara Hills reckon simply chill it down and serve it as an aperetif.
