There ain’t no doubt about it. This is officially Australia’s best Rosé right now! In fact, it’d have to be one of the best Rosés in the southern hemisphere! After all it’s a QUADRUPLE Trophy, QUADRUPLE Gold, FOUR times winner of Champion Rosé at the major wine shows at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show, Royal Melbourne Wine Show, Royal Sydney Wine Show and the Barossa Wine Show!
“Flat out delicious. You could drink gallons of it, and I most likely will” said Aussie critic Gary Walsh from The Wine Front. We’ve guzzled (or is that gobbled?) a bottle or two recently and can confirm – this is bloody delish! It’s pale pink in colour, light and crisp with summer fruit flavours and a dry finish. A real class act.
Turkey Flat. Gobble gobble. So what’s with the name? Well the early settlers in the area in the 1840s noticed a large native bird often in the area on the rich flats at the lower end of the Tanunda Creek. Bird lovers will tell you it wasn’t a turkey, it was actually an Ardeotis australis, but for the sake of a good story let’s stick with turkey!
The Schulz family have been running the Turkey Flat vineyards since the 1860s and as a side hussle at the time also had a thriving family butcher business! It was meant to be!
