No wonder the dude on the front label is doing a little jig (that’s Dionysus by the way, Greek God of Wine) – there’s plenty to celebrate about when you’re owned by one of the most successful NZ wineries of all time (Villa Maria) and have access to their vast selection of top vineyards and grape growers all around the country.
Winemaker Simon reckons you can almost taste the succulent peach in this medium to full bodied, classic creamy style Gizzy Chardonnay. It’s full of fresh, ripe tropical fruit flavours and highly, highly drinkable.
This is a label that has consistently picked up accolades, gongs and solid reviews over the years – always good value, always reliable. It got listed in Michael Cooper’s ‘Best Wines For Winter 2019’ in North & South magazine (but seriously, why wouldn’t you drink a Chardonnay any other time of year too?). He said “From Villa Maria and made in an upfront style, this is a typical regional style: fresh, mouth-filling and smooth, with very good depth of ripe, peachy, slightly toasty flavours. Ready to roll.”
If you’re down in the Gizzy region Simon fully reckons you should head down to Wainui Beach. It’s just the place for a walk, swim, boogie board or surf!
