Yep, that’s right. Sunstones that used to form the river bed of an ancient river in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley are now used by the crew at Stoneleigh to radiate the daytime heat directly onto the vines, making them work hard to produce grapes full of crisp, vibrant flavour.
This is their 2025 vintage Marlborough Riesling that off the back of a Trophy & Double Gold winning 2024 release won 4 1/2 Stars and a Top 10 award in Cuisine magazine’s annual Riesling tasting. The judges said “Citrus blossoms mingle with lime and grapefruit citrus on the nose with hints of honeysuckle. The palate is racy and limey with clean fruit very well handled. Off dry and lengthy with a juicy finish.”
Awards like this well and truly lands this (supposed) entry level white right in the bargain buy zone! You’ll happily slurp this one now (or cellar for up to a decade from vintage!) and pair with chicken, pork, Thai food or other spicy Asian cuisine.
