Phantom Bay Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

A Reserve label Sauvy made exclusively for thirsty Marlborough Sauvignon drinkers in the United States, produced by an award winning NZ winery.

They looked like they’d seen a ghost when one of their US buyers left them high and dry on a deal, leaving their warehouse here in NZ scarily over stocked and little choice but to flog the living daylights out of it to move it along!

In exchange for a rock bottom rate we’ve promised to keep our lips sealed on the producer’s true identity. Under a different label here in NZ this wine sits under the winery’s second tier "Reserve" label and sells in the region of $18-25! It’s fair to say you’d see their wines on supermarket and wine store shelves all over NZ.

In a recent Sauvignon Blanc tasting by influential US magazine Wine Spectator, Phantom’s 2014 Reserve Sauvy scored 88/100 and was selected as one of the Best Value wines in the line up – they said “Succulent, juicy, ripe pear and peach flavors are fresh and vibrant…shows good intensity, especially on the finish. Drink now". It scored higher than some supposed big brand names like Oyster Bay and Wither Hills!

A succulent, juicy style Sauvy with mouth-watering tropical and citrus fruit flavours and a clean finish – serve it lightly chilled with fish and seafood. Heck, at this price grab a couple of cases and stash in ’em in the pantry!
