The mathematically perfect spiral of the Nautilus shell has been admired since ancient Greek times…and in more recent times by wine lovers in NZ and around the world!
Don’t take our word for it. This is the Nautilus Estate Albarino from Marlborough and it’s up there with the best NZ examples of the style here in Aotearoa! Albariño (pronounced al-bar-een-yoh) is widely planted in Spain and Portugal but has become increasingly popular in the fridges of Kiwi wine guzzlers.
This is what legendary winemaker Clive Jones had to say about this latest 2025 release – “Fragrant and vibrant, the 2025 Nautilus Albariño opens with aromas of white peach, mandarin zest, and a hint of sea spray. The palate is bright and expressive, delivering juicy stonefruit flavours with a touch of salinity and fine texture. Crisp acidity drives a long, zesty finish, capturing the variety’s signature freshness and energy.”
First launched in 1985 as a premium, family owned NZ winery. These days Nautilus are part of a bigger (and very prestigious) family – The Family of Twelve.
Twelve of NZ’s most iconic, successful wineries that share information, ideas and even the odd secret or two. The top brass of NZ wineries sit round this table – Villa Maria, Kumeu River, Millton, Craggy Range, Ata Rangi, Palliser Estate, Neudorf, Lawsons, Fromm, Pegasus Bay, Felton Road and Nautilus.
