What an absolutely stunning buy this! A premium label $38-45, certified organic, single vineyard, Marlborough Chardonnay up for grabs at an almost ridiculously low price of $16.99. Grab it while you can, pour yourself a glass and then pinch yourself that you’ve actually just bought an expensively grown, aged and oaked Chardonnay for less than half its genuine retail price! It’s beyond bonkers.
In a sign of the times this premium organic producer has asked us to help discretely clear cancelled export stocks of their quite simply outstanding 2020 vintage single vineyard Chardonnay.
It’s now up for grabs at a price that can only be offered if we keep their identity under wraps, help protect the brand and sell it as a Mystery Deal online. In exchange they give us a price they’d never normally dream of offering. It’s a complete win-win. The wine’s true label is on the box and bottle and all will be revealed when it lands on your doorstep.
What we can say is these guys are a family owned, organic wine estate with vineyards in Marlborough and Central Otago. The fruit for this Chardonnay comes from old vines on a single vineyard site in Marlborough’s Rapaura sub region. The wine that arrives on your doorstep is the export label that under its original label is selling here in NZ for $38-45 per bottle.
Hand picked fruit, whole bunch pressed, it’s then aged and fermented on lees in a concrete egg and then matured in French oak barrels for 10 months of which 50% is expensive new oak! This all adds complexity to the wine and adds to the ageing potential. In case we haven’t made it obvious enough – this is an expensively made Chardonnay that was never, ever meant to be sold under $20!
Scoring 5 Stars with Michael Cooper who said “This delicious, generous, finely poised wine is full of personality. From mature vines at Rapaura, it was fermented and lees-aged in a concrete egg and a range of French oak vessels. Mouthfilling and rich, it is savoury and complex, with balanced acidity and a slightly creamy texture. Certified organic. $35-$40”
It’s the kind of wine that always needs several years from vintage to really hit its straps – and with six years bottle age now it’s drinking absolutely superbly but could certainly go for another 2-3 years yet.

Damn, you're looking young for your age!
