Yee-haw! The Eagle has landed! From the Golden State (that’s California, USA) the McManis Family Vineyard wines have landed in NZ and we reckon they’re well worth a shot for under $20.
They didn’t just slap “Family Vineyards” on the label as a marketing ploy – the McManis’ are fifth generation family farmers, wine and grape growers since 1990. Their label might look a bit old world but their set up is pretty flash, they’ve got a state of the art operation cranking up there in northern California.
If you’re new to Viognier (vee-on-yay) think of it as a full bodied, dry white somewhere between a Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Or as McManis simply call it “once across the lips, the luscious liquid delivers loads of Peach and Apricot flavors“.
Certified green (the equivalent of our CarboNZero rating) and the perfect partner to white meats and fish dishes in rich sauces, or spicy Asian cuisine.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
