Johnny Q aka “John Quarisa” is the winemaker and his motto is “you just can’t take life too seriously“. But seriously, you’d be mad to not have a closer look at his wines. They totally over deliver and have won the hearts of many an Aussie red wine lover over the years, including the Johnny Q Shiraz Viognier.
Blending red and white wine – who would’ve thought! But this Shiraz Viognier from South Australia is 95% big, lush, ripe south Australian Shiraz and just a 5% splash of aromatic Viognier to soften it out a bit.
This is the latest 2021 vintage and while no stranger to the podium over the years this vintage went one step further winning a Double Gold at the NZ International Wine Show 2024 – meaning every senior judge gave it Gold! At this price point, it’s a steal!
Try it with a lamb roast or mature cheeses to really bring Johnny Q to life.
