With the cost of pretty much everything going up right now value for money is what everyone’s after. We spend our days tasting wine after wine (it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it), swirling and spitting our way through the good, the bad and everything in between to find wines that way over deliver, no matter the price.
So when a Gold medal winning Pinot Noir under $20 slides across the desk we instantly get excited. This is a wine selling for a little over $22 direct with the winery, and to be fair for a Gold medal winner that’s not bad buying. But in exchange for landing some volume we’ve managed to get the price down to a jaw dropping $16.99 per bottle! Pound for pound, this is a Pinot packing a punch!
A Gold medal winner at the Marlborough Wine Show and a Silver medal at the NZ International Wine Show. Made by Grove Mill who are part of the Foley group of winemaking teams that include the likes of Mt.Difficulty, Vavasour, Te Kairanga and Martinborough Vineyards.
These guys take sustainability seriously. From using lightweight recycled NZ glass bottles to labels produced from sugarcane (a highly renewable material that utilises an abundant by-product) to the winery being powered by over 300 solar panels.
Using fruit from their flagship 17 Valley vineyard and aged for 10 months in French oak this is a medium to full bodied, supple style full of dark cherry and berry flavours with a bit of spice. This is a Pinot that would put some $25+ priced Pinots to shame!
