Whispering Angel may be regarded as the world’s number one luxury Rosé – well wait until you check out her big sister, Rock Angel!
Sacha Lichine is the man behind Whispering Angel and his family is one of the most important in the French wine world. Heck, his old man was nicknamed The Pope of Wine! Château d’Esclans sits in the hills above St Tropez and boasts some of the oldest Grenache vines in the area being more than a century old.
Sacha brought in one of the best to help craft the world’s leading luxury Rosé with winemaker Patrick Léon joining the team, Patrick has spent over 20 years as head winemaker at Mouton Rothschild. With world class winemaking expertise and state of the art whizz-bang technology at play it’s not hard to see why anything under the Chateau d’Esclans name is so highly sought after.
While Whispering Angel is made from five grapes the Rock Angel is made from just two – Grenache (85%) and Rolle (15%) – and is partially oak aged for added complexity. It’s certainly got high praise from a couple of the wine world’s biggest name critics…
“Luxurious, aerial, composed and effortlessly grand, Whispering Angel’s big sister is a thrilling wine…it is worth noting this is not an aperitif wine but a serious accompaniment to fine food”
“Definitely worth paying the premium for this”
