One of the shining stars of the Margaret River region in Western Australia! Brothers David, Mark and Giles Hohnen formed Cape Mentelle (funnily enough named after the nearby cape with the same name) in 1970 and in 1985 started Cloudy Bay in Marlborough, making Mentelle a little bit of a big brother to NZ’s own Cloudy Bay.

Mentelle’s Cabernet and Cabernet blends are often benchmarked against top Bordeaux from France and the Trinders Cabernet Merlot blend (named after the Trinders vineyard it’s produced from) is a real icon.

Definitely one to try now with a few tucked away in the cellar for future slurping, a good 10-15 years ought to do it.

A medium to full bodied red with plush, juicy dark fruits and soft tannins and a trademark herby element sometimes found in these wines. Absolutely delicious, a class act.
