Produced by Angove in the McLaren Vale, South Australia. They were formed by a Doctor (Dr William Angove) who moved to Australia from Cornwall in the UK in the 1880s. He believed that good wine was essential for fine health and a sound mind. So there you go, doctor’s orders!
This is what they call their ‘Family Crest’ range so there’s a bit of family pride is on the line whenever they bottle something under this label. Judging by the impressive line up of reviews and awards they’re bang on the money here…

“This is a very solidly-structured shiraz that needs hearty food, and, preferably, more time in the cellar. There’s a lot of wine for the money here”
Using fruit from a couple of their McLaren Vale vineyards (Blewitt Springs and Seaview to the north, Sellicks Hill and Willunga to the south) and aged 12 months in oak.
This is a high quality, deep, dark and brooding style McLaren Shiraz that is good to go now but you’ll be rewarded for tucking some away in the cellar, try up until around 2033.
