Giesen Single Vineyard Waihopai Pinot Noir

Unprecedented crazy times, unprecedented crazy deals. Boy oh boy oh boy, this could just be one of the greatest Pinot deals you’ll see this year. If you love drinking top shelf Pinot but don’t like paying top shelf prices (like paying close to half price for it!) this is for you!

The Waihopai Vineyard in Marlborough has been banging out world class NZ Pinot for over 20 years now, and this 2014 vintage is another beauty. Typically selling in the $60-65 price bracket – hello?! Have you seen this price! It. Is. Nuts.

They don’t need to enter a wine like this into wine competitions with the reputation it’s got, but they did pop it in front of local critic Sam Kim and there was absolutely no surprise to see it get 5 Stars and 95/1000!

The Single Vineyard Clayvin Pinot might get all the attention but just between us, we prefer this one. It’s full bodied, rich and complex in style full of dark cherry fruit flavours but with an irresistible smoky, spicy, forest floor thing going on! Gorgeous!

Enjoy and savour it now, but it’ll be good to be kept tucked away in the cellar up until around 2025.
