The Taittingers are one of France’s great wine families and owners of one of the great Champagne houses with a history dating back to 1734. So you could imagine the nationwide horror when in 2005 Taittinger was bought by an American firm – sacre bleu!
Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, grandson of the original founder, was having none of that. He rustled up the cash (and a fair bit of it at around 660 million Euros – he needed the help of French bank Crédit Agricole!), bought back his family’s business and sent the Yanks packing.
With a long and proud history you can understand Champagne is in their blood. This is their Taittinger Millesime Brut Reserve Champagne label, only produced in exceptional vintages, and in their own words Millesime is “The memory of a beautiful year.”
This 2016 release Taittinger Millesime Brut Reserve Champagne is 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir with 70% of the fruit coming from prestigeous Grand Cru vineyards with the other villages being Premier Cru.
Taittinger’s cellar master Alexandre Ponnavoy describes it as “A deep and complex vintage, much like the mixed, demanding continental climate from which it heralds.”
Beautifully presented in a Taittinger Millesime gift box and delivered anywhere in NZ with your personal gift message added at the checkout.
