The Hunting Hill vineyard was planted back in 1982 and since the late 90s has played an important part in providing seriously good fruit for Kumeu River’s world famous Estate Chardonnay. Replanted in the year 2000 and in the words of winemaker and Master of Wine Michael Brajkovich it’s “now even better than before, giving beautifully ripe fruit with a distinctive mealy minerality.”
This is what winemaker and Michael had to say about this latest Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2025 release – “2025 was a remarkably dry harvest season. Hunting Hill is a vineyard that was first planted in 1982 and became a significant part of the original Kumeu River Chardonnay blend. Occupying the slope overlooking Maté’s Vineyard, it has always contributed lovely ripe and rich fruit to the Estate Chardonnay. Hunting Hill was replanted in 2000 and is now even better than before, giving beautifully ripe fruit with a distinctive, mealy minerality.”
