Penfolds and Pinot Noir? You better believe it. Best known as a world class producer of cellar worthy, collectable Australian Shiraz and Cabernet but increasingly they’ve put focus on other varieties from other regions and in some cases other countries.

Since the mid 90s Penfolds have been producing Pinot with this Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir label first released in 2009. It’s named Bin 23 after the ‘Cellar 23’ at their iconic Magill Estate.

To produce quality Pinot in Aussie you’ve got to head to the cooler climate regions like Victoria, Adelaide Hills, the Hunter Valley and Tasmania, this latest 2025 release is a blend of Tasmania and the Yarra Valley.

This is the latest 2025 release of Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir and, in their own words, Penfolds call it “An unashamedly Penfolds Pinot Noir”. Here’s what some other Aussie critics had to say…

92/100 & Top Rank Award (Huon Hooke, The Real Review)
“Bright, light to medium red laced with purple and there’s a beautiful, lifted fragrance of red cherry and five spice, the palate light-medium bodied and elegant, with light, fine-grained tannins, lovely balance and immediate drinkability.”

92/100 (James Halliday’s Wine Companion)
“Mid-ruby in the glass with bright and expressive aromas of red cherry, red plum and red berry fruits over hints of wildflowers, Medina spice, dried meats, pastis, rosehip, raspberry coulis and subtle leaf litter and earthen tones. It’s a lighter, savoury style on the palate, expressive, bright and harmonious, with pure fruit, a sprinkle of crushed herbs and a slide of morello cherry. It’s kind of a little bit safe, and I’d like to see a bit more nuance and sinew, but it’s really good drinking all the same.”

Find out why there’s an increasing interest in Tazzy Pinot Noir – especially when it’s got the backing of a class producer like Penfolds! Pair this one with duck, lamb and game meat dishes. Drink now to 2035.
