Cruise north of Christchurch for half an hour or so and you’ll hit the Waipara Valley wine making region. The Waipara Hills vineyard boasts some pretty stunning views of the mountains, hills and valleys it neighbours.

They’ve got a café on site serving food and platters and if you hit ’em during the summer months you might catch one of their mean summer gigs. Oh, and the wines are pretty bloody good too!

This has been a consistently good pick over the years. It’s got loads of bright and juicy berry fruit flavours, a nice easy drinking, medium bodied style Pinot. If you’re looking for the ideal food match you can’t really go wrong with lamb, duck and game dishes.
