Vino Lascito Rubicone Sangiovese

One-two-three….and squat! Now eaaaase the cork out. Of course we’re talking about the shape of the ancient bottle they’ve packaged this smart little Italian Sangiovese in to.

Produced by Vino Lascito, which means ‘legacy’ in Italian, they’ve taken one of Italian’s favourite grapes (Sangiovese) and produced it in a classically shorter shaped bottle (don’t stress – there’s still 750ml in there!).

NZ Master of Wine Steve Bennett slurps his way through plenty of Italian reds to sort out the good stuff from the not-so-good stuff – it has to tick plenty of boxes (included good bang for buck) to convince him to import into Aotearoa. Vino Lasicito does plenty of box ticking and if dark, sweet fruited, juicy reds sounds like you then hook in.

Like a lot of Italian reds this is a super value red and super versatile when it comes to food matching. Our top tip is pairing it with pizzas, pastas, casseroles and stews.
