Tohu (pronounced tor-who) are Aotearoa’s first Maori owned wine company. This is their fancy looking and extremely fancy tasting Whenua range – Ngā hua a te whenua, our gift from the land.

These are their single vineyard wines and they put their best foot forward on anything labelled under the Whenua series (individual barrel assessment in the winery to make sure only the best fruit makes it). Using fruit from the Upper Awatere Valley region in Marlborough, and specifically the one hectare Araroa block, this is their single vineyard Tohu Whenua Awa Pinot Blanc.

What’s Pinot Blanc you ask? Well it’s is actually a white mutation of Pinot Noir. And the thing to know is that’s it full of peachy, pear and citrusy, lemon zest flavours, it’s got a touch of spice, it’s super refreshing…and it’s bone dry!

Scoring 93/100 with Cam Douglas MS who called it “Delicious and dry, ripe and fruity”
