Just when you thought he couldn’t do it again…he’s done it AGAIN! We’re talking about winemaker John Quarisa aka JohnnyQ aka the king of value for money Aussie reds with his latest wine project The Fox and The Grapes.

Let’s cut to the chase – under $15 this would be up there as one of the best value Quarisa reds we’ve had in years.

A Triple Gold medal winner and 92/100 from international critic James Suckling – those gongs include an incredible DOUBLE GOLD at the NZ International Wine Show 2024. A Double Gold is a rating of 98 or more out of 100 and only five other Shiraz/Syrah wines got this rating in this competition.

A Double Gold is awarded when the chief judge, assistant chief judges and senior judging panel in the competition awards a wine a Gold medal score. And mark our words, NO wine gets a Double Gold from this line up of judges without being of seriously good value and quality. It’s lead by chief judge Bob Campbell MW and assistant chief judges Larry McKenna, John Hancock, Tony Bish and 20 other senior judges.

This is the quintessential Aussie red blend of south Australian Shiraz (75%) and Cabernet (25%) that’s full bodied, rich, luscious, flavour packed red. It’s signature style JohnnyQ taken to the next level.

Scoring 91/100 with James Suckling who said “A vivid, well-rounded and generously fruited blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon…a dense and generous core of berries and sweet spices and a chocolaty
finish.”

The man himself JohnnyQ says of this one – “Full bodied wine with dense ripe berry fruit flavours of cherries and black currants balanced with spicy oak having a long and smooth finish. Serve with a red wine casserole or a juicy steak with red onion jam. This wine has the flavour; structure and balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring.”
