Te Awa means “river of god” and named after the subterranean streams underground below the vineyards. They source their fruit for their “Single Estate” wines from the Gimblett Gravels, the hotspot in Hawke’s Bay for premium wine and particularly Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay.
This is their Syrah from the 2013 vintage in Hawke’s Bay. The vintage that got pretty much everyone jumping up and down in excitement, it got labelled as the “vintage of a lifetime”. So if it says “Hawke’s Bay” and “2013” on the label it’s a damn good start!
A Gold medal winner at the Bragato Wine Awards and 4 Stars in Cuisine magazine. A delicious medium bodied red full of those classic Syrah flavours. Think of dark berry and plum flavours with a touch of spice. Drink now to 2020.
