An absolutely stunning deal on this award winning, single vineyard, Reserve label Central Otago Pinot, one of the best for under twenty bucks we’ve seen in a while. As part of an end of vintage clearance this Pinot, selling direct from the winery for $35, is now up for grabs at this incredible price at a snip under twenty bucks!

If you’re a regular you might remember the stunning 2014 and 2016 vintages we were pumping a while back? Well, now it’s the 2017 that’s next to be cleared – yes, the winery needs to free up cash and warehouse space!

With the price of fruit in Otago going up it’s getting harder and harder to find quality Central Pinots at this price, which is why we highly recommend you grab a case or two while you can, you’ll be so, so glad you did!

South River are the winery and their vineyard is located in Tarras, on the banks of the Clutha River, next door to the famous Canyon vineyard. It’s crafted by one the region’s top winemakers, Anthony Wurch. He’s a Frenchman now settled in Otago and the man behind the award winning wines from Tarras The Canyon, Kuru Kuru and previously spent a bit of time with the crew at Peregrine.

Not so long ago these guys provided fruit to the likes of Chard Farm, the winery that produce Rabbit Ranch as well as a series of premium, single vineyard Pinots.

It’s all hand picked, single vineyard fruit, barrel aged in French oak and held back for a couple of years before release. The result is wonderfully rich, savoury Pinot with heaps of dark berry fruit flavours and silky tannins – a glass of real deliciousness from whoa to go! It has the added bonus of a few years bottle age behind it, and it’s really started to hit its straps. Pinot of this quality has good aging potential and we reckon this will cellar comfortably for a few more years yet though.
