Award winning winemaker Elena Brooks wears steel cap boots to work every day but carries a pair of high heels in the ute for emergencies. Y’know, like the last minute invite to receive yet another Trophy or Gold medal for her award winning wines!

Returning from a mid vintage knees-up she managed to kick off a heel and slip back into her trusty work boot – to which the rest of the team yelled “Run Sister, Run!”.

Elena is the founder and winemaker behind the massively successful Dandelion Vineyards label and she’s just one of many talented ladies that make up the Sister’s Run label – Alexandra, Barbara, Bernice, Dani, Daria, Geri, Helen, Jessica, Leisa, Margie, Maree, Sophie, Stefka and their honorary sisters Encho, Jackson, Lance, Todor and Zar.

As Elena puts its “We don’t take ourselves as seriously as we take our wines…The truth is in the vineyard and the proof is in the glass”.

Using McLaren Vale fruit from South Australia this is a plush, dark fruited, spicy Aussie Shiraz that ticks plenty of boxes.

As for the food match, well, we’re 100% on board with their recommendation. “Be bold in your luncheoning strategy when it comes to this red wine. Exaggerate. Use just a little too much of any chosen ingredient: pepper, chilli, coriander, garlic, turmeric, paprika… Whichever one of these you use, double the normal quantity. Trust us: we are winemakers. Oh, and one other thought: Wallaby Shanks lightly curried. We kid you not.”
