Made by Saint Clair in Marlborough and part of their iconic Pioneer Block series – a range of small parcel wines from specific vineyard sites dotted across Marlborough. This is the Pioneer Block 9 Big John Riesling Block named after vineyard owner John Walsh who stands at 6″10!
This is a true medium style Riesling (37 grams of residual sugar for you wine nerds out there!) and it’s just quite simply a damn delicious glass of white that is screaming to be pair with spicy Asian cuisine or a sweet and sour pork dish!
Scoring 95/100 with Sam Kim who said “A magnificent rendition, the finely scented bouquet shows lemon sorbet, lime cordial, crunchy apple and subtle spice aromas, leading to a deliciously expressed palate offering fine texture together with elegant sweetness and beautifully pitched acidity. Splendidly balanced and refreshing with a long, vibrant finish.”
