Red Hut wines are here and they’re red hot. An exciting new wine collaboration between legendary wine maker Corey Ryan (ex Villa Maria) and wine merchant Mike Farrugia.
Sharing their love of New Zealand, the great outdoors, tramping (and wine!) they created Red Hut – named after the government-owned red hikers’ huts you see on some of NZ’s most iconic hiking trails.
This is the Red Hut Albariño (pronounced al-bar-een-yoh) from the 2025 vintage using fruit from sub region of Hexton Village in Gisborne. It took out an impressive Double Gold medal at the NZ International Wine Show 2025 – meaning every senior judge awarded it Gold and it was short listed as a potential Trophy winner!
Scoring 90/100 with The Real Review’s Huon Hooke who said “Fresh lychees on the nose; a touch of terpene which is part of this variety. Creamy lees and nutty barrel-ferment undertones. Bone-dry but soft, fleshy and rich on the palate. Very smart example of the variety and true to the grape.”
