Mumm was formed by three German brothers who crossed the border from Germany to France in 1827 and took their family sparkling wine business (known as P.A Mumm aka Peter Arnold Mumm) to the region of Champagne.
The Mumm name became known as G.H. Mumm in the 1850s when Georges Hermann Mumm, one of the founder’s sons, took control of the business and took it to the next level. His motto was “Nec Plus Ultra – Only The Best”.
