Launched in 2008 the Misty Cove wine brand has tried to flip the script on what a wine brand can look like, while crafted seriously good value, award winning Marlborough wines – and keeping it fresh by experimenting with unusual varieties and unique blends.
This is Misty’s Cove’s Riesling made in an off-dry style – zesty citrus and stone fruit flavours, crisp acidity, a slither of sweetness and a dry finish.
Featured in Michael Cooper’s NZ Listener article, Coops said “Full of youthful energy, the 2025 vintage is a single-vineyard wine, estate-grown inland from Renwick, in the Wairau Valley. Light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with very good depth of citrusy, appley, slightly spicy flavours, fresh acidity and a dry (2.6 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Best drinking 2027+.”
An off dry style Riesling like this is a wine made to be paired with food. Think spicy Thai or other Asian cuisine, sushi platters or a fatty, rich Duck curry!
