Yee-haw! The Eagle has landed! From the Golden State (that’s California, USA) the McManis Family Vineyard wines have landed in NZ and we reckon they’re well worth a shot for a snip over $20.

They didn’t just slap “Family Vineyards” on the label as a marketing ploy – the McManis’ are fifth generation family farmers, wine and grape growers since 1990. Their label might look a bit old world but their set up is pretty flash. They’ve got a state of the art operation cranking up there in northern California.

Their 2019 Pinot is a juicy little number loaded with heaps of red fruit and cherry flavours. The McManis’ reckon if you can taste vanilla and cream in this one you’re not losing it – that’s the 6 months in French and American oak at work. A real crowd pleaser for the money!

Certified green (the equivalent of our CarboNZero rating) and the perfect partner to red meat dishes, especially game meats, duck and lamb.
