New Zealander Warwick Foley and German Edel Everling flung open the doors of Johanneshof Cellars back in 1991 showcasing their incredible winemaking talents after learning their trade in the world famous Rheingau region of Germany.

Located at Koromiko midway between Blenheim and Picton the Johanneshof name has over 35 years experience of hand crafting, award winning, premium Marlborough wine. Their Gewürztraminer is without a doubt one of Aotearoa’s finest year in, year out and one we keep in our wine racks at all times!

They were also the first in NZ to create an underground rock cellar, blasted by coal miners into the rock under their Maybern vineyard, named after Warwick’s parents May and Bernard.

This single vineyard Rosé is produced using some of their Pinot Noir grapes from that steep Maybern vineyard, first planted by Warwick as a teenager back in 1977. Producing wine from here is a labour of love with almost all of the work carried out by hand, it’s dry farmed and all hand harvested, it’s an assemblage of both 2023 and 2024 vintages.

It scored 90/100 with Master of Wine Stephen Wong in The Real Review who said “Light peach. Sweet apricot, raspberry and creamy peach flavours coat the palate on this richly textured but soft, off-dry rosé. The plush palate is neither weighty nor powerful but has plenty of ripe fruit flavour which finishes with sweet honeydew flavours. A very charming and easy-going wine for immediate enjoyment. Drink 2025-2027”

Warwick and Edel describe this release as “The Johanneshof Rosé is an elegant, yet gutsy wine finishing long and incredibly smooth. Enjoy with your favourite fish dish, fresh salmon or on its own in the sun with good company.”
