The Margaret River in Western Australia is world renowned for producing kick arse Chardonnay that’s often benchmarked against Burgundy in France. It’s fair to say most come with a hefty price tag so we were pretty wrapped to find a well priced take on the classic Houghton Margaret River Chardonnay.
Houghton are one of Australia’s oldest producers, recently notching up their 175th birthday. As well as being a hell of a lot of candles to blow out it’s also a long time in the wine game, a lot of grapes crushed and plenty of time getting to know what style this region can produce when it comes to Chardonnay.
In this case we’re talking a lightly oaked, soft, creamy, citrusy style. So refreshing, easy to enjoy with or without food – it’s a prime example of why Chardy is making a comeback! Pair it up with white meats, fish, seafood and creamy cheeses.
