Finca Enguera Reserva Monastrell Tempranillo

Wine and bats and sausages and tomato cakes. It must be one of the most out-there winery events we’ve come across – but it’s all there at Bodegas Enguera in Valencia. You can grab tickets to their famous “Bat Nights” – wait until just before dark to witness more than 50 bats emerge from their nesting boxes in their bat vineyards.

Grab yourself a glass of this very classy Finca Enguera Reserva blend of Monastrell (60%), Tempranillo (30%) and Marselán (10%). Aged 14 months in barrel before being bottled and laid down in the Enguera cellars for 3 years before release.

The result is a really impressive aged Spanish red full of ripe red berry fruit flavours with cinnamon and spice and all things nice. No need for much more cellaring (a couple more years at best really) – that bit’s been done for you! Just whip out the corkscrew, you’ll need it for this one, let the wine breath for a bit…and enjoy!
