Har and Sophie Eradus, and their two kids, were originally in the flower business in Holland but in 1982 they moved to NZ. After 20 years of dealing with bunches of flowers it was time to get their hands on bunches of another kind, grapes!
In 2004 Hanna and Michiel Eradus took over the reigns. When cleaning out an old shed at the winery one day they came across an old pot belly door with an embossed logo. Wiping it down, it revealed the letters “H, S and E” – Har and Sophie Eradus maybe? Spooky!
This is their Awatere Valley Pinot Gris and, a much like the Sauvy they’re best known for, it’s a class act for the money. It’s made in a refreshing, juicy style with a dry finish. It’s given 9 months in barrel to add a textural richness to it.
Smart buying for the money, even smarter when paired with white meats or seafood dishes – try roast pork, chicken or a creamy pasta!
