Te Koko is the original name for Cloudy Bay (it’s actually Te Koko-o-Kupe). Cloudy Bay is the winery that put New Zealand on the world wine map back in the day with their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Cloudy Bay Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of true class and an alternative take on the classic Marlborough Sauvy style. It also has something of a cult following!
Produced in small quantities Te Koko is released as a two to three year old matured Sauvignon Blanc that has been aged in French oak barrels for some 15 months before being left to mature in the Cloudy Bay cellars ready for release.
A full bodied, complex and savoury white that will well and truly impress at the next dinner party! It certainly impressed Master of Wine Bob Campbell who’s called it “A distinctive wine that deserves to attract a cult following.”
Meanwhile the iconic Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate says “Te Koko is arguably the wine that launched the concept of premium Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand in the 1980s—no mean feat.”
Sauvignon Blanc and fresh kai moana is a match made in heaven and Te Koko is no different! This world class white is absolutely divine with freshly shucked oysters.
